On June 30, 2025, Governor Phil Murphy signed P.L. 2025, c. 72 into law, which amends the legal notices requirements under the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA). In particular, the law made several key changes:
Beginning March 1, 2026, public entities must publish their legal notices on their website rather than in newspapers.
Notices must appear on the public entities’ websites for at least one week and then must be archived for one year.
Public entities are required to send their website link to the Secretary of State for inclusion on the Secretary of State’s website.
Until March 1, 2026, public entities can comply with the Open Public Meetings Act either by posting notices in a newspaper or on their website.
For the duration of the calendar year 2026, public entities must advertise twice per month in an online news publication that provides information about where their legal notices can be obtained on the public entity’s website.

The Board of Fire Commissioners of Hopewell Borough Fire District No. 1, Mercer County, NJ will conduct a public hearing on the district’s proposed 2026 budget at its meeting on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 7:00 pm both in person at the Hopewell Fire Dept, 4 Columbia Ave, 2nd floor, Hopewell, NJ 08525 and virtually via Google Meet. The login ID can be found on the website www.hopewellfire.com/bofc/. At the conclusion of the hearing the Board will formally act to adopt the budget. A copy of the budget is available for review at www.hopewellfire.com/bofc. Pursuant to the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Law, the Board of Fire Commissioners of Hopewell Borough Fire District No.1 designate the following regular monthly meeting dates and special or work session dates (second meeting date for each month) for the year 2026 and January, 2027:
