John Kennedy
Chaplain
John moved to Hopewell Borough in 1991 from Kingston where he was involved with the Kendal Park First Aid in the mid 80's. He was also involved with Twin W First Aid Squad while working in the Princeton area at CUH2A. John decided about 12 years ago that he wanted to be involved more with the community and began helping out driving the Ambulances at Hopewell Fire Department and Emergency Medical Unit. When he speaks with prospective members he tells them that "It's not as onerous as you might think and you could really help out someone in need".
John retired from the State of NJ as a Public Procurement Administrator and has decided he wasn't done searching how to help his community. He has now signed up to attend Fire School so that he can help out the Firefighters on the department. John said "It's never too late to learn more and nothing is more rewarding when helping someone in our community".
If John has not done enough for the Community and our department he is also the Hopewell Fire Department's Chaplain because even our own sometimes needs help during stressful times.  John recently received his Masters in Pastoral Care from Fordham University.
You can come down any Tuesday at 7 PM and find John checking on the Ambulances if you would like to speak with him about our department or how to join.
